Sensor Fusion

An autonomous drone is only as useful as it’s payload. The information generated by the additional payload sensors (IR cameras, laser range finders etc) or external computation devices like Gumstix must be presented in a usable fashion. This would require some of the additional processing to be done onboard or on the Ground Control Station(GCS).

Sensor Fused Drones could be used in a variety of scenarios such as

  1. Tracking and following a target
  2. Collision or obstacle avoidance
  3. Target designation and communication to GCS

Below is a picture of a Quadrotor that we fitted with the additional sensors such as Laser Range finder, Camera, Gumstix, Sonar and Optic flow.
